Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design
Qualification
OVERVIEW
This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Target group for this program will be applicants over the age of 18 who wish to enter supervisor, design and draftsman roles in the civil construction industry.

Pathways into the qualification
Individuals may enter RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design with limited or no vocational experience and without a lower-level qualification. However, Omni College recommends to complete RII50520 – Diploma of Civil Construction Design and then enrol this course.
Pathways from the qualification
Students completing this qualification may choose to progress with further studies by undertaking one or more options including Advanced Diploma Qualifications or Higher Education courses in Civil Engineering.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design course. However, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
English Language Requirement
Academic Requirement
• Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in related fields of study and 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise. OR
• Have completed a Bachelor degree in related fields of study and 2 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise. OR
• Have five years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.
Age Requirement
All applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission to the course.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy test
All students enrolling in a VET course at Winslow College are required to undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy test to identify their capabilities prior to signing the Letter of Offer (LOO). The outcome enables the trainers and Student Support Staff to identify the learning and digital needs and make provisions for additional academic support where required.
Note
In the absence of formal English qualifications, Omni College may proffer English Placement Test.
